Buka Matamoe

Sure to split the critics, Chicago Loop Alliance's Art Loop 2010 welcomes 30ft 'Eye'
All eyes are on Chicago this week as 49 year old artist Tony Tasset unveiled his centrepiece for Chicago Loop Alliance's Art Lop 2010 - a giant replica of one of his own bright blue eyes. The 30ft spherical structure has been created using 15 individual pieces of fibreglass attached to a reinforced steel base, which Tasset and his team have coated with off-white paint before adding a startlingly blue iris and black pupil.

On display until 31st October this year, Eye is situated in Chicago’s Pritzker Park on the corner of State Street and Van Buren. Exaggerated over 1,000 times in size, the sculpture has been designed using a close up image of the artist’s own peepers. Tasset explains: “My job as an artist, as a sculptor, first and foremost is to make the space more interesting. I really wanted to make something that had a wow effect. This is Chicago after all. It’s the city of big shoulders. So I had to go all out.”

Eye is not the only controversial piece of public art that has graced the streets of Chicago of late. In 2006, Anish Kapoor’s shimmering ‘Cloud Gate’ was unveiled in Millennium Park, gaining both criticism and acclaim in almost equal measure from domestic and international audiences. Tourists still flock to the park to gaze at ‘The Bean’ as it is now affectionately known, and it is hoped that Tasset’s artistic contribution will have the same effect. He admitted: “I’ve always said that I want to make art that people either love or hate, never a neutral reaction. And I certainly don’t think they’ll have a neutral reaction.” And from the recent reactions turning up on blogs and review sites across the internet, it looks like Tasset has already achieved this goal!

Rantai Hujan / Rain Chain

Musim hujan?

The rainy season? Yes, the season that much water, your house is ready to handle it? As rain fell to earth, received by the roof of our house, and poured into water channel to the city sewers. One problem often encountered when a gutter is the flow of water. Sometimes water falls from the duct directly into the ground, causing this water can damage home gardens or paving. Water that falls straight from the gutter can also be splattered everywhere and make the house dirty.
One solution is to use a rain chain to the park. Its function is to drain rain water into the channel without having spattered everywhere. This is because, the flow of water that falls from the roof of the chain can be forwarded to the sewer line by following the chain to the ground. Water that falls from the gutter, 'guided' from top to bottom, then went into the container to be poured into drains. Use of this rain chain will particularly help make our homes more ready with the arrival of rain, the solution is quite simple.
Kind of looks like a normal rain chains such as chains in general, while the Japanese-style rain chain types, typically have units which are connected ornament-connected, form the Japanese style is very unique, varied and can be a beautiful decoration elements, like forms of glass-gelasan , flowers, and so forth. The shape of the container penadahnya, could also become an attractive element of the park, with a shape that also varies.

AE16 - Imitation Wood Grain Panels

The use of wood in architecture is typically of two broad categories: solid and veneer. The former is prevalent where trees are, such as Scandinavia and countries in tropical climates. The latter requires industrial processes and is used for flooring and other applications in the United States and elsewhere. One big difference between these two is that veneer is focused solely on the surface and its appearance, since the ultra-thin wood ply is adhered to a plywood, MDF or other base. Veneer exudes the warmth of wood without the depth, cost and durability of solid woods.

1. Kitchen Size
Designing the kitchen of course need the standard size that has a goal to make users comfortable.
a. Top Cabinet
Height of the cabinet top height should be adjusted with the kitchen user.
b. Kitchen table
The kitchen table heights should be adjusted to the size of the user. Because this kitchen table where to put the stove, at least as high as your hips users.
c. Circulation Distance
Should be made comfortable to work in the kitchen activities for users (1 or more). Offsetting the condition that the user is opening the lower cabinets (squat).
For example: there are three people who are doing activities backs to each other, people can easily passing behind the person who is doing the activity.

2. Laying Tool Cook
Factors considered groundbreaking cooking efficiency and comfort.
a. Sink
Placed with windows that can open / close the window. The goal is to help change the air and sink so that no moisture.
b. Refrigerator
Do not approach the stove / in the sun.
c. Stove
Do not be put near a window that can be opened (may interfere with the flame). If using a gas stove, and prepare a tube storage cupboard. Or placed outside the kitchen, so when there is leakage dapart wasted directly into the free air, and reduce the tube exploded. Although busy in the installation.

boring game

Rest for a moment to write articles about architecture. Spend a little time for the World Cup. Yes, almost a week now watching World Cup matches, it was none the less. Yup, the main reason for lack of goals. At the start opening match between South Africa and Mexico that ended 1-1, the second game that brought the world champions 0-0, worse. South Korea Greece with a 2-0 surprise, perhaps Australia's match with Germany ended with a margin of more than two goals (score 4-0). Hopefully the game tonight, Spain and Switzerland can provide party entertainment goals as closing the first game of each group, if not get ready to wait a second match later each group, and hope the team that competed were not shy to score ^ ^.

weird mirror angle sensitive

One of the product design work of Tetsuo Kondo Architects is a mirror, but mirrors are not the same as what is made in a factory. The uniqueness of these mirrors is that if you look at things from anywhere other than from the front of the mirror, you will see a blurred image is not a clear reflection of the image. Apparently this is due to a special film deposited on glass, while a frame covered with paper arise. So what made this mirror? clear so that you actually look in the mirror right in front of him, not behind or beside, which is clearly very much trouble ^ ^

Le Corbusier's "in his own words"

Books that are reviewed are from Le Corbusier's book entitled "In his own words" introduction for children.

This book contains the discovery and a surprise from one of the most mysterious and least known in the history of architecture.

The book contains a preface and introduction to the ideas of architecture for children ten years or more will provide a sense of awe of the architectural, human life, an architect, his work and where he lived.

One of it is that there is a human figure with one arm raised is a recurring image. Modulor Man, the mascot of Le Corbusier's system to remind you of the universe.
Man Modulor is intended as a universal system of proportions, the human form, and beauty into a single system.

This book introduces to children early on to architecture. Where architecture is not just a building that stands alone, but building that has meaning, beauty and balance with nature.

Holy Mosque

Mosques in Indonesia has many distinctive buildings typologies. Most people to understand architecture as a building domed mosque, or berjoglo with certain rules that developed in the community. Most have a view that a mosque should be vaulted, or berjoglo. Although the actual architecture of a mosque is defined through the arrangement of space as a result of prayer activity, the image of a mosque had been embedded in society in the shape of a particular type of building. Mosques were oriented to carry a lot of architectural vocabulary of the Middle East region. This is not surprising, because the center of Islamic civilization from the Middle East.
As mentioned by the studies, an image of religious buildings usually when ordered back from their home, sometimes not a strong impression of the real reason. Dome shape actually is not merely a part of the typology of the mosque, and not always represent a mosque.

But whether a conviction will not settle too deep into the image of his creation buildings? It would have been so. But not in a superficial sense, as if there was an inventory list that contains a myriad of forms that have been labeled as a Christian it is Islamic, Hindu or other religions. (Studies, in Wastu Citra)

In society, a symbol can not be changed in a way that quickly, unless there has been a readiness to accept new symbols in religious buildings (this is what happened in recent times, some communities have been able to accept the changes caused a paradigm shift, as a consequence of information exchange so quickly). Take years, maybe one or two centuries to make a paradigm shift is rooted in the community. We can see in our society 'inaction' to follow a new rule after a rule is understood as a consensus. Perhaps this can be understood as evidence that an entrenched tradition can not be changed arbitrarily.

Symbols ... have meanings that can be brought into how people use a building. As an example of the sculptures can be a 'symbol' to a shaft of confidence. Something previous stone or other material, if changed shape and given meaning, can tap the buttons beliefs and spiritualism (in mind). Sometimes the icon brings a huge impact to how people worship.

But what comes as a work of man, it can not be compared with the work of God. When someone believe in God, then life has a center and the center of his life tethered. What relationship with God is present in person, can be presented through the work of a little man, in a pattern that is understood by the mind can be brought into the desired spiritualism.

The mosques in this article also has a specific element that is considered to represent the symbolism of a mosque. This can not be underestimated, because the mosques usually have great meaning in the lives of the majority of our society, so the symbolism may be the most important thing to note in the design process. Can still be found, residents gathered to discuss important matters at the mosque, more closely mothers chatted in the hall a mosque while waiting for the next prayer time arrived, and so forth.

In many cities, the mosque has a role to become a city icon. This is becoming a role in the life of the mosque as a center for the surrounding communities, even the square if necessary. Communities need a place where there is a 'theme' in a link with a building, because the character of the community itself has made a point of presence of houses of worship, as a direct relationship with the existing cultural system.

who i am?

Hello, my name Safroni, I was a student in one of the state universities in Surabaya. At the end of the semester I was doing my final project, titled Madiun Stadium. In between working on the final task, I wrote a blog with the contents of Architecture, although English and my writing technique is far from word less ^ _ ^.

Hopefully, by writing this blog I can share experiences, add friends, or maybe someone offered me the project ^ _ ^.
